INTERNAL AUDITOR I

The pay range for this position is $22.06 - $29.43 per hour
The State of New Hampshire, Department of Safety, Division of Administration has a full-time vacancy for Internal Auditor I, SOC Title 13-2010 ACCTS-AUDITORS-3. This position has a 37.5 hour work week and is considered non-exempt.
SUMMARY: Performs financial and procedural audits to various records, including but not limited to, accounting and financial transactions and procedural policies within the Division of Administration to determine both accuracy and compliance.

18 Months or 1.5 Years of additional relevant experience = Associate's degree
36 Months or 3 Years of additional relevant experience = Bachelor's degree
54 Months or 4.5 Years of additional relevant experience = Master's degree
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Bachelor's degree from a recognized college or university with a major in accounting or business administration. Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience.
Experience: Two years' experience in accounting or auditing work, including two years of consultative, supervisory or administrative experience in the field of auditing. Each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.
License/Certification : None required.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Selected candidate will undergo a fingerprint based criminal background check and motor vehicle record check in order to ensure suitability for exposure to confidential information.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assists in audits and reviews of the Department of Safety's (DOS) subsystems and various financial records to ensure accuracy and reliability of the State's financial accounting system ( NHFirst ) and compliance with state statutes and generally accepted accounting principles.
Reconciles various DOS subsystems to the NHFirst financial accounting system by preparing worksheets in excel to ensure that the internal control process complies with generally accepted accounting principles.
Consults with the Internal Auditor II on findings and recommendations to determine if any internal/external audit findings are compromising the internal control process.
Ensures the implementation and compliance of PCI processes and procedures by the divisions of DOS including assisting in resolving areas of non-compliance. Assists the divisions with the preparation of required documentation as needed.
Assists in reviewing financial and operational controls and makes recommendations to leadership on processes to prevent material misstatement due to error or other factors.
Assists in coordinating Payment Card Industry (PCI) activities and audits for DOS including preparing required annual presentation and updating training materials, auditing PCI mandated logs and terminal inventory, submitting the yearly Self-Assessment Questionnaire (SAQ)and annual audit to Department of Administrative Services (DAS) Merchant Services.
Oversees the Prepaid Customer Accounts for Criminal Records and NH DMV transactions/payments to assure the accuracy and completeness of records and reports and maintain the database. Assists the Senior Technician with prepaid customer questions and concerns.
Maintains frequent contact with DOS internal and external customers for responses made and requests for information during performance audits.
Assists in reviewing journal entries submitted by the DOS divisions and bureaus.
